Sindhara Dooj is celebrated on second day of Durga Navratri in Ashwin month & Chaitra Navratri. It is also known as Gauri Dwitiya or Sowbhagya Dooj or Sindoor Dooj.
In Chintpuri Temple and Nainadevi Temple in Himachal Pradesh, Sindhara Dooj is also observed during Shravan Navratri.
Sindhara Dooj festival is mainly celebrated in North India. The important phala sruti or merit of this vrata is good health and longer life of husband, and happy marital life. Sindhara dooj is also on the previous day of Haryali Teej or Singhara Teej in Shravan month.
Brahmacharini Navdurga Mata is worshipped on Sindhara Dooj in some areas of North Indian and in other places Goddess Tara Dasamahavidya puja is observed. In South Indian temples, Balatripura Sundari Puja is observed. Maheshwari Saptamatrika is also worshipped in ancient temples of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
